OH CANADA!!!

Well I have to say I'm feeling a little more patriotic than usual. Got home this morning from work and couldn't sleep so was flipping through the channels and saw that the Olympic flame had landed at Victoria airport. The same one Annette flew into a while back when she came out for a visit. Would like to see more visitors come out this way. Anyways I watched a couple hours of the ceremony and started getting into it. Funny the last time the torch run was in Canada Liz Lippert was carrying the torch and I never went to see it. Seeing as it was someone I knew you'd think I might have. Maybe I was working that day not sure but it wasn't on my priority list. Well now it is and it will be in Nanaimo tomorrow. I also read that Hadi Abbasi from the VI Raiders will be carrying it after the game so seems like a good time to go and get pictures. I'm heading down to Nanaimo early for the Cullen Cup (BCFC FINAL) that decides who gets to host the Canadian Championship game. Last game there were a few players from the 2005 Championship game and it was good to see them and talk about old times and how when we see a jersey number we know the person who used to wear it not the one wearing it now. Well off to go find my Canada tuque and get my team Canada jersey ready for tomorrow. Watch my photo blog for more football pictures too!!

Oh by the way HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!!!

Fall Colours

I'm surprised no one has been bugging me for a new post. usually by now I have gotten a few hints to update. I could upload 100's of football photos because I'm at a game almost every weekend. Even my wife enjoys those NOT! LOL. I'm trying to remember Saturday but because of the rain not much going on. I did make a trip to Victoria for a football game and for the most part the rain stopped or it was just drizzling. I managed to take around 500 shots if anyone is interested?

Sunday was a lazy day as Ben and Patty were not feeling well. We were supposed to go for lunch with Aunty Irene and Uncle Jim but they canceled on us. They were or at least Aunty Irene was having a lazy day. We ended up going to the Rock Cod for lunch anyways. My mouth starts to water just thinking about that place so I was game. Then we came home and Patty decided to lay on the couch to have a nap because of her headache. Not much I can do for her except give her piece and quiet so I went for a drive to see if we have fall colours out here. Well it was kind of dark and cloudy and I was hand holding the camera so the depth of field is shallow in most of the shots. I drove along the ocean stopping once or twice then headed towards Mount Prevost but didn't see much and didn't feel like going up the mountain. On my way home I saw some real nice colours in the cemetary so I stopped and visited Uncle Don's grave and wandererd down to Joannes but there is no stone but I think I found it. I was there with Aunt Glady's once. I also walked around and took pictures and looked at some of the old stones.

It was funny how peaceful it was and it got me thinking back to when I first got out here after dad passed away. I had a breakdown and my Dr sent me to a councilor a couple times. On my last visit he told me that since I like to take photos I might like going to old cemetary's and taking pictures of old stones. I thought it was wierd and a little creepy but now I'm thinking not so much. I did take one photo of a stone of someone who was born in 1962 and passed away in 1969. There were 2 cute teddy bears, little bean ones sitting on the corner of the stone and they looked fairly new. I wasn't going to post it but maybe I will now. I may get some more fall colour pictures this week but my concentration is for the first playoff game for the VI RAiders who went 10 and 0 this year. There are a lot of newer players and only a handfull of players from the Raiders first year which I was very much a part of. They will all be graduating and moving on to bigger and better things although some won't be in football. Good luck to them all!

Ben the Athelete!

Since I switched to graveyards I decided to go watch Ben's Rugby practice after high school. I'm very proud of him because to me Ben is more of a couch potato but then again so am I now. Ben goes out there and gives 100% and other than some aches and pains he doesn't complain. I told him we need to work on his strength and stamina a bit but I do give him a lot of credit especially for his effort. It was even raining all practice and it didn't seem to fizz on him. I hid under cover LOL but only because of my camera. Ben's friend is also on the team. In a couple weeks there is a traveling team from some where over in Europe coming to play and I'm going to go and try shooting it. Rugby is a foreign game to me but watching someone you know might make it easier to watch. Here are a few photos with a couple of his friend thrown in.

Happy Birthday Gwenhyvere !!!

Well Saturday was a football day as you can tell if you check out my photo blog. I'll spare you any photos of that since I know you all got your fill already. Other than that it was a pretty quiet day.

Sunday was the first of at least 3 parties to celebrate Gwen's birthday. Probably the only one I'll get too but that's ok cause we got to spoil her early. We went down to Adam and Mary's for supper and we took a veggie lasagna. Mary's mom made curried chicken dish and her sister made a raspberry cake in the shape of a heart. You'd think who would make that type of cake for a 1 year olds birthday but you will see from the pictures she loved it as we all did! The veggie lasagna was a lot better than I expected and the curried chicken was mmm mmm delicious! A fabulous meal all around. Gwen even ate some of the curried chicken and shared some with me. Gwen got a wagon full of toys and a kitchen that has a light switch and everthing from the fridge door to the taps and toaster makes noise.

She had woke up from her nap in a grumpy mood and grandma was the first person she went to then after Ben got her playing with the kitchen she was laughing, talking and dancing all over the place. She even liked my beard this time around. she ran her fingers through it and just happen to have curry sauce on them so my beard was covered but we was having fun. Patty is so lucky as she gets to spend 2 whole days a week with her but thats why grandmas are special. One day soon we are going down to babysit over night so Adam and Mary can go out for the night. Looking forward to that!!
