Random thoughts

Not sure what to title this post yet so I'll start yapping and see if anything comes up. Had a nice chat with my sisters this week. Getting caught up on all the family stuff. Filled them in on whats going on with that growth in my body. Won't know anything new till after Feb. Patty has made me change my eating habits and although I put up a fight in front of her its not all that bad. I've lost a few pounds already. Just staying away from crap is a huge difference. I was throwing away a bunch of receipts I had in my room and 90 percent of them had some sort of chocolate treat on them. If not M&M's it was Maltesers. Not one chocolate bar in the past 2 weeks. Still drinking Pepsi but trying to cut down a bit at a time. I should go back to diet coke but Patty hates the aspartame in it. I think if its as bad as they say the damage has been done. Holding onto my 46 million dollar winning ticket from the draw last night. As long as I haven't checked it and I haven't heard if its been won or not I can still have my dreams. A big boat on the ocean with our own chef. Got a long email from Al looks like hes having a lot of fun. Glad things are working out for him. Ben is still the big pain in the ass that hes always been but we still love him. He trys hard and that's the main thing. I told him if he wants to go to Hamilton with us this summer he better get a job cause I'm not paying the whole shot for him. If I don't get back to back to work at Vic Truss I might not be able to afford it for us to go. But also if I'm off that long I might just not want to go back and just try to get by with what we are doing. Also London Drugs is comming to town and they have a pretty big photo lab so I might try and get full time there. Also if I have won the lottery we are going to get a big camper bus and bring the whole family to Ontario. Aunty Irene doesn't like to fly and we want to bring her to Huntsville to see her sister. We might need 2 of those busses so Patty's mom can come and Gwen and her parents. Or maybe just rent a big bus, drive for 8 hours then get rooms in the best hotel thats close spend a day sight seeing then do it all over again every day till we get to Ontario. Patty's family is really close and they don't understand when I tell them about my family. They all get along and want to spend lots of time together. Everyone is invited to everything and if you can't make it you feel bad for letting the others down. From day one when I met Patty I knew how close this family is and if Aunty Irene accepts you then everyone does. lastly I ran into Paul and Dimples in Wal-Mart last night while having coffee with Aunty and he is having a birthday party for Aunt Glady's who is turning 90 years old next month. I seen her a couple weeks ago and she still looks the same as she always has. Still gets out every day to walk the dog. Good for her!!! I hope I can still get around when I get up there but don't think my body will last that long. Well off to get ready for work so will leave you with a few photos of our little princess !!

Medical update

Update: My CT scan is booked for Feb 4 around 9:15am

I thought I had put a post on here about me going for a physical before Christmas but couldn't find it. I like to go every year to see how things are going. My cholesterol was a little high and so was my blood pressure. Although I've been telling the Dr for a long time my blood pressure was on the high side but she never seemed to be bothered about it. Not until a fill in had changed my meds and then she changed it back but said shed keep an eye on it and will change it if it doesn't get any lower. I now take double what I was taking before and it (my blood pressure) now reads normal.

Also when I was lying on the exam table she noticed my stomach was higher on one side than the other. She felt around and could feel a small lump which she thought could be a hernia. She set up an appointment for me to get an ultra sound done and it came back negative for a hernia. I was pretty sure it wasn't a hernia cause I felt no pain. The lump is now about the size of a tennis ball. It sits in my lower left side of my belly just above the waist line. When I lay on my back and look down I can see the small hump. Although she did use the word tumor she is pretty confident that it is nothing. Might just be a lump of fat build up. She is hoping to get me in for a CT scan in the next couple weeks then I'll have to visit a surgeon to see about getting it removed. They need to see if and what it might be attached too. I'm really not worried about it so I don't want any one else to be worried about it. Just thought this was the best way to let everyone know. I was trying to think of a humorous way to put it on here like when I told the story about the race dad and I had when I was really telling you about dad falling and hitting his head and going to the hospital. Ben said something funny the other day which I would have kicked his butt except that my back is in so much pain. Ben told me I had a dickdo ... I said what the heck is that and he said you got a belly that sticks out further than your dick do. LMAO I'm still going to get him over that but I'll bide my time until I'm better and he cant get away from me. Please no calls or emails about this just wait till the update about my CT scan.

Oh and for some more good news I just got a phone call saying that work is real slow so I'm going to be laid off for a bit but I'm first on the list of call backs. The money was good but I was sure enjoying the time off and being away from that place and the cold and snow. Almost asked before Christmas if I could have January off. Might try to pick up some extra hours at Wal-Mart. Once my back is healed.

Sorry no photos this post. I was going to take a photo of my belly but I'm a little fat and bloated being we just got passed Christmas and all the goodies. Patty has put me on a road to healthier eating so no junk food for a while. I guess she doesn't want to sit beside a fatty on our plane trip to Ontario in August. I told her that when they cut that thing out of me I'll probably lose about 5 lbs right there so I should be able to eat some junk food LOL.

....and that's the way the cookie crumbles

HNY part two

I haven't been on the computer much as I messed up my back shoveling snow this week. Now the temp is plus 9 and we have been getting lots of rain to help the snow go away.

As most of you should know December 31 is Patty and my anniversary. The last two years have been amazing and it just seems to keep getting better other than the fact we are getting older and seem to be falling apart. Being grandparents is awesome too but we haven't been to see Gwen in this new year but we will be going down for lunch tomorrow.

New Years eve we went out with Aunty Irene and Claire and Uncle Jim to the Saltair Pub. Since I met Patty we have spent every new years eve with aunty Irene. She had booked a table for 20 ppl and they all showed up. Patty was a little under the weather with a cold and did not sing but Karaoke Joe and a few others from our table got up to sing. The only pictures I have of that night I stole from Aunty Irene because I never took a camera. I did try some video but it was so packed and dark it wasn't turning out so I stopped taking video.

WEll I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years eve and I wish you all the very best in 2009!!!!

Sorry if the post is boring but I didn't want to leave it for much longer and really not in the mood to post with my back being so sore.

Happy New Years !!! PART ONE

Well first off I want to wish every one Happy New Years!! I hope its better than last years.

Been a while since I posted so I will start with Christmas. Was a very nice Christmas this year starting off at our place getting up in the morning and opening gifts. Every one was very happy with what they had received from Santa... except Al of course. Hes not a very happy person and sometimes it drags me down then we kind of get into it a little. Al has been on a kick about poor him bad luck bad Karma. I keep telling him there is no such thing as Karma that your decision and actions are what determines your results of the days happenings. Funny thing is, its never his fault. He turns left in front of someone and gets hit but its not his fault (his story). Had to be the other guys fault, speeding, drinking, dumb... and so on. The fact that Al got the ticket for illegal turn and the cop only listened to him for 30 seconds and to the other guy for 15 minutes and wouldn't investigate is because Karma and everyone else is against him. He even went to ICBC (BC insurance) to try and get them to investigate but they wouldn't cause he was in the wrong. Al was turning left, saw the guy was coming but Al was either too slow or misjudged the speed of the oncoming car and got T-boned. I feel bad for Al cause his car although drivable needs alot of work. Its a nice little car although I would never own one. For a single young guy you would have thought he would have got something sporty or a truck. I think its a Cobalt or something like that.

Anyways back to Christmas ....
After doing our thing we got dressed and packed the car to go to Adam and Mary's to see our little Gwen. Now when ever we go Al his his own schedule that he thinks we all have to follow. First off he needed a phone card so he could talk to his gf in Finland. I told him no stops once we get on the road. The weather wasn't bad but we had a lot of snow up to the day before. He decides hes going to run down to 7-11 and we can pick him up. 2 minutes later he is back because now his feet are cold and wet because of the snow. We finish packing the car then we drive him to 7-11 before hitting the hwy. The drive was better than expected and we made good time. Mary's dad was there and we all exchanged gifts and sat around watching tv while Patty and Mary finished making dinner. Patty had cooked the turkey the day before. We all took turns holding Gwen and chatted then sat down to a wonderful turkey dinner. When supper was finished Al decided it was time to leave but I had other plans. Patty and I drove into Victoria because I wanted to take some pictures. We went downtown to the parliament building and the Empress Hotel. Patty had a new camera she was trying out so we both had a lot of fun taking pictures. It was nice being out, just the two of us. We drove back to pick up Al and Ben but I had to tease Al a bit by saying we should all play monopoly for a while. Adam and Mary do have the world edition where you use a bank card instead of cash and I have wanted to try it. But we didn't we headed home for a good nights sleep.

Most of that week was relaxing for me as Vic Truss was closed. I had to do some shoveling and salting every day and had to work at Wal-Mart boxing day but other than that nothing much. On the 30th I took Al to a hockey game in Nanaimo. The World under 17 Tournament. Finland vs USA but it wasn't very fun for Al because his team got creamed 12 - 1. Al met some people from Finland and chatted to a nice young girl from there that we had met outside the arena. Its about 10 days before he leaves for Finland. It was a fun game to watch as there were some very good players on both teams but USA was bigger and faster but Gold went to one of the Canadian teams. One other thing that came out of the game is I ran in to Jeff Barnes who worked at Alcan with me and had moved out here around the same time as me. He just recently moved back to the Island from the mainland and is living in or near Nanaimo. I gave him my email address but have not heard from him yet although he was having computer problems.
