Doobie hill/point

Sorry its been so long since I've last posted but I've actually got a life and sometimes it gets pretty hectic. I spent a lot of time working on the wedding photos and I did up a dvd slide show that I mailed to Shawn and Marianne early last week. I wonder if he ever got a copy to his mother.

Well this past weekend we were in Merritt where we went to see family and to take Patty's father Oz's ashes to a special place where he had asked his cousin Marty to spread them after he had passed. It was on top of a mountain with a spectacular view. Oz had been there many times with Marty and others hunting and drinking and hanging out.

I have to say this is the way it should be done. There was no funeral but more of a Irish wake back in March. Then no burial but a spreading of the ashes in a place that was very special to Oz with his closest family and friends. Then everyone had a beer and toasted Oz and then shared their beer with him. Even Ben had a beer in honour of his grandfather. I bet Oz would have got a good kick out of watching his grandson who can not quite handle his booze.

The trip was about 75 kms from the house to where we ended up to spread the ashes. Oz had spread his brothers ashes on the same spot about 2 years ago. As you can tell by some of the pictures it sure is beautiful country out here.

I want to thank Natalie and Peter for letting us stay at their place. I think I should thank Peter more because I know Natalie really didn't want us there and Peter must have talked her into it. I thought I was going to have to sleep on a park bench downtown. I told Patty if we only found one bench she could have it and I'd sleep under it like it was a bunk bed. Glad it never came to that but I will remember that the next time Natalie and Peter make it to the island for another visit.
