RELAY FOR LIFE

Hey all

I havn't been this sore in forever. It was a fun night with the Muskoka Gowers and the G unit team. I gotta say that I had to be dragged back on the track at the end. I was hurting everywhere. I snuck off and sat by the fire while the team carried on without me. It was late and the fire was dieing so it wasn't too warm there.

Karl kind of told yous about some of the stuff I was going to tell you so please bare with me if you heard it before.

Trudy and I had been walking for quite a while and my back was killing me so I decided to sit down for a bit. Trudy told Jodi that we would catch up with her and Maison soon. 30 seconds after sitting down we were told by a stranger that the poker was starting. So I decided to get back up and walk some more. Trudy followed. The first card I got was a 7. I told trudy that the reason the guys liked me playing poker was that the cards I got sucked. I told her if I get a 2 I'm quitting. Then we started laughing and talking about no matter what I got we should tell everyone it was a 2 and take a picture. Well there was no need for that because when we came around I went to a different person handing out cards and low and behold I get a 2. Trudy thought first look it was a 3 because they were casino Rama cards and had a hole in the middle. We laughed about it and then she took the picture. For some reason I only ended up with 4 cards and I had a seven and three 2's. But I heard it was certain cards that won the prizes like aces of diamonds. I just checked my pocket and still have my cards.

The next thing that came up was everytime you did a lap you got a popsicle stick. I was by myself for some reason but soon caught up with Jodi, Maison and Tara. Tara decided to walk faster with me. I was 1 lap ahead of her and lapped everyone. Now I'm not a cheater and I hate losing to a cheater. There was only one woman that I couldn't remember lapping and she had passed us and was half a lap ahead of us. Now I saw her getting sticks from other team mates that had stopped so I asked the woman handing them out if it was individual or team sticks. She said individual. On the last lap Tara and I started jogging to catch up and pass the cheating bitch and we did. By the end I had 15 sticks and Tara had 14. that means we walked more than 3 and 1/2 miles in one hour. There were people saying they had 20 sticks and Tara and I know that they were cheating bastards because they never passed us. Even the woman running it laughed at the idea of having 20. It didn't really matter in the end because everyone with 12 or more got a tiny pink flashlight keychain. I gave mine to Trudy the captain of our team. I have to say that when Tara and I started jogging that was the quick start to my decline.

Another event they had for teams was a scavenger hunt. Our captain went and got our list and after going over it we realized we had just about everything they wanted in Trudy's car or purse. 2 friends of Jodi's decided to help us. The biggest thing we were missing was a cloth flag. I sent Jodi's friends out to the parking lot to see if they could "borrow" a flag off a car in the parking lot. They came back with nothing so Jodi said we could make a flag using a shirt from the event on a stick. While we were waiting for Trudy to get back from the car another team came in but were missing one item. We ran out side in a panick looking for Trudy. She showed up telling us that she got lost because Karl had moved the truck. She had forgot a pillow so I grabbed the keys to the car and as I was headed to where I thought the car was Trudy was yelling something about the track. I thought she wanted to meet at the track but it ended up she was trying to tell me the car was moved closer to the track. It took me a while to find the car then I ran down to the track looking for my team but they were not there. Then I seen one of Jodi's friends heading back to the building with a pillow. I ran up and joined her and after all that we ended up in second. They did like our flag. We all received a small compass, whistle, thermometer, and magnyfying glass all in one keychain. I had actualy seen them earlier that evening and had said I wanted one.

It was after 5am and the sun was comming up so we decided to do one last lap with all the remaining team members. We made our way to the car and headed home for much needed sleep. Karl didn't end up going to any garade sales in the morning. Well we might be off to golf in the morning if it's not raining. If it is I might go see the wolves in Haliburton. Have a good weekend all.
